Burrell Behavioral Health Behavioral Care Manager in Independence, Missouri

Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Care Manager assists in coordinating the daily operations of the department. This position monitors client activities and provides support to the team and other clinical teams. All staff must adhere to operational guidelines, professional code of ethics and comply with HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answer incoming calls and make non-billable calls on behalf of the department and document the nature of the call in the clinical record.

  • Review and keep for all clients; documents that would identify risk through the suicide care pathway and other potential crises then prioritize and route information to staff routinely.

  • Schedule and cancel client appointments accurately on a daily basis. This includes entering the correct disposition for cancellation of appointments.

  • Research and prepare appropriate forms and/or evidence-based modules to the department for the provision of billable services.

  • Verify client information and insurance status and communicate areas of focus or concern to supervisory staff and supportive services.

  • Serve as a liaison with HIM, Support Services, ROI, QI, and Medicaid Personnel with goal of adhering to regulatory compliance expectations in the management of client charts.

  • Collaborate with supervisors to complete non-billable tasks related to ensuring regulatory responsibilities are completed in a timely fashion.

  • Schedule and assist with assessments and sessions as time allows.

  • Enter documentation into the electronic record that would not be billable.

  • Perform verifications of benefits, and monitor Medicaid status to assure insurance is obtained and maintained during the course of the clients’ treatment, when needed for outpatient visits.

  • Assist with outreaching clients and enter documentation of outreach attempts.

  • Abide by the privacy and security policies when interacting with customers and co-workers at all times.

  • Perform required tasks related to the regulatory requirements of closing of client charts.

  • Assist and complete intra-office agency referrals as well as referrals as requested.

  • Assist with daily team meetings by taking notes and dispersing staff as appropriate based on the risk rating and the client’s level of care.

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Ability to establish effective relationships via telephone and personal contacts

  • Ability to follow directions and accept supervision

  • Ability to comply with organization, state, and federal compliance standards

Experience and Education Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Experience in office management is preferred

Supervisory Requirements:

  • None

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.

  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.

  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.

  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
