A Day in the Life

This position is a new opportunity to work with Medtronic’s Ventilator Transition Business. The business will have a singular focus, financial commitment, deep domain expertise, and global footprint needed to service our customers’ needs for the service life of the Puritan Bennett. In this clinical position, we will focus on supporting our customers for the next 7 to 10 years.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

As a Clinical Specialist (CS) (level depends on your experience), you will enhance the business by serving as the clinical expert on the application of the Ventilator Transition Business products. The Clinical Specialist position will work within their assigned territory with a focus on supporting post-sales activities including implementation, education, in-servicing, and ongoing support.

Travel required in assigned region, approximately 50-70%.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and participate in implementations with customers to ensure they are conducted according to best practices.

  • Engage key stakeholders with product value propositions, supporting literature, etc. appropriate to their specific care area.

  • Lead clinical activities including, product education, in-servicing, and ongoing support to ensure robust adoption and utilization.

  • Stimulate, support, and facilitate clinical champions in the development of institutional policies and processes that leverage ventilator products to improve patient care.

  • Expert-level clinical knowledge of acute care clinical ventilation, PB mechanical ventilation, and applications for critical patients

  • Act as a key resource for and collaborate with other internal partners (e.g., Marketing, Medical Affairs, R&D) on the following:

  • Educate and update the organization quarterly on clinical trends and customer needs.

  • Develop and share best practices throughout the organization as a Clinical Subject Matter Expert (CSME)

  • Stay up to date on the education needs of the clinical customer base related to product utilization and concepts of clinical application.

  • Effectively deliver customer education and implement process improvements as needed.

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with clinical leaders, including:

  • Create an environment conducive to personal development and feedback for self and peers.

  • Model the essence of team spirit.

  • Identify and work through difficult and complex issues with customers without compromising relationships.

  • Assess productivity and discuss opportunities for improvement with key stakeholders to ensure results.

  • Timely completion of all special projects and administrative duties

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • This position is open to any current/previous Medtronic employee Respiratory Interventional Clinical, Sales or NICU specialist that meets the Respiratory degree requirement

  • An associate degree with a minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT credential

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT credential)

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years total critical care experience in an acute care hospital environment, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as clinical specialist.

  • Experience in education curriculum development and delivery

  • Experience with health care industry and clinical education

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.

  • Track record of building successful strategic business partnerships

  • Results-oriented, self-motivated to achieve exceptional results and manage complex projects to completion.

  • Demonstrated resiliency and adaptability.

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Exceptional client interaction skills

  • Create and deliver presentations, education plans, and evaluation plans that reflect the needs of the customer.

  • Proficient in Salesforce.com, Sales Analytics and MS Office (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
