Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Occupational Safety & Health (OS&H) Manager to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area with every Friday off. Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an experienced and motivated OS&H Manager for the Safeguards and Security Directorate. You will lead and manage the OS&H activities of the deployed staff within the directorate, building a high-functioning, multidisciplinary team. You will conduct employee performance appraisals and work independently with minimal supervision. You will report to the Director of Occupational Safety and Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage OS&H activities within the Safeguards and Security Directorate.
  • Build and lead a high-performing OS&H team.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals and provide feedback.
  • Maintain strong communication with the work organization, OS&H Director, and ESH&Q Division Managers. Relay important information from meetings to staff.
  • Allocate resources (time, budget, personnel) effectively and communicate resource needs to achieve OS&H goals.
  • Interact with mission management, attend meetings, and resolve operational and scheduling issues.
  • Provide feedback on performance indicators and ensure work objectives are met.
  • Report accomplishments quarterly to the OS&H Director and Mission Directors.
  • Ensure rolldown of OS&H and DOE policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Implement safety requirements for firearms, explosives, tactical and industrial safety, fire protection, and industrial hygiene.
  • Identify and resolve OS&H deficiencies promptly.
  • Make critical OS&H technical decisions for the directorate.
  • Approve OS&H personnel timecards and schedules.
  • Identify and ensure completion of required training for OS&H staff.
  • Provide performance evaluations and salary recommendations to the OS&H Director.
  • Mentor staff and organize OS&H services and products for the directorate.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • Bachelor of Science in a safety-related field (industrial safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection) or related with 5 years of experience, or Masters in a safety-related field with 2 years of experience.
  • 2 years of professional management or leadership experience.
  • Proven experience managing OS&H activities and leading multidisciplinary teams in a security-focused environment.
  • Professional experience in conducting employee performance appraisals and providing feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of Protective Force Operations, DOE Orders, and OS&H policies.
  • Experience as a law enforcement officer or protective forces with a minimum of 5 years of firearm use.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

*Desired Skills and Qualifications: *

  • Certification in OS&H (e.g., CSP, CIH)
  • Experience as a firearms specialist
  • Experience in a similar role within a national laboratory or research environment, specifically in safeguards and security.
  • Experience in high-hazard areas, SRT Operations, Live Fire Range Shoot House, Firearms Training, Explosive Breaching, and Tactical Training.

*Job Information: *

  • The target pay range for this position is $154,733 - $231,971 annually. The full pay range is $105,516 - $269,052. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
