To organize & conduct medically prescribed treatment programs for adult & pediatric patients to help restore function & prevent disability according to the principles & practices of physical therapy. Description: Evaluates new patients, sets objective measurable treatment goals for functional outcome, establishes appropriate treatment programs, & provides documentation of same. Administers diagnostic muscle, nerve, joint & functional ability tests to determine the extent of the patient?s impairment & the prognosis for improvement. Carries out appropriate treatment modalities, & re-evaluates the patient as needed, modifying the treatment plan based on patient progress. Provides objective, analytic documentation of patient care, patient/family education, & communication with other caregivers. Communicates effectively with medical/allied health personnel, regarding patient progress, needs, & discharge planning. Provides instruction in therapeutic procedures to be continued by patient & family. Assists in training new personnel as requested by manager. Provides guidance & direction to Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, & affiliating students. Maintains established departmental policies & procedures, objectives, quality assessment programs, quality improvement initiatives, & safety, environmental & infection control standards. Attends meetings as required. Enhances professional growth & development through participation in approved education programs, current literature, in-service meetings & workshops. Maintains daily statistical records of patient activity & charges. Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers & co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Hospital?s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence & service. Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Able to read, write, & communicate effectively in English. Bachelor;s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited Physical Therapy Program Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current BLS For PT Clinical Specialist, must meet all qualifications noted above, as well as the following: ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a clinical resource for rehabilitation staff in a focused area of clinical expertise; plans & conducts treatment programs for patients. Assists management in the planning, development, organization & supervision of the specified clinical specialty area. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Documentation of Specialist Certification. Schedule Details: 40 Hrs. per week, Sunday-Thursday, 9:30a-5:30p, Rot. holidays. Potential for schedule to change to Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Sunday, based on operational need.
