General Requirements:

Associates Degree in related field. Two years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs specialist duties for the Veterans Resource Center ( VRC ). Assists in supporting military-affiliated students in navigating VA educational benefits and the Hazlewood Act Waiver.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Provides personalized customer service at the highest level. Assists with counseling military-affiliated students regarding the utilization of their VA educational benefits and the Hazlewood Act Waiver. Informs them of program requirements, rules, policies, and procedures for certification of VA educational benefits and the Hazlewood Act Waiver. Facilitates the transition of veterans into the university environment, addressing any unique challenges they may face. Collaborates with the Veterans Benefits Processing team to ensure seamless processing of educational benefits. Phone coverage is expected as well as responses to emails submitted through the veteran’s mailbox. Performs receptionist duties, directs phones, walk-ins, and schedules appointments. Oversees budget change requests and assists with annual budget processes to ensure compliance with university policy. Handles P-Card purchases, travel requisitions, monitors budgets, and accounts. Performs complex clerical functions including data and document processing. Inputs data and ensures the accuracy of information. Serves as an advocate for veterans’ needs and concerns within the university community. Works with faculty and staff to create a supportive and embracing campus environment for veterans. Prepares, reviews, revises, and distributes reports, documents, and correspondence. May supervise work-study students which includes participating in the hiring of students and determining work priorities. Solves routine problems to complete tasks of a repetitive nature. Represents the VRC at campus events, outreach activities, and attends meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned.
