General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, agriculture, forestry, land management or related field. Two years of experience in maintenance, carpentry, or facilities maintenance or in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Responsible for the infrastructure, land and facility management of the Pineywoods Environmental Research Laboratory ( PERL , formerly the Center for Biological Field Studies), a 247-acre biological field station located in Huntsville, Texas.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Manages activities related to all building and infrastructure to include working tools, tractors, and other heavy equipment. Maintains field vehicles and research equipment. Responsible for the logistical oversight and coordination of Facilities Maintenance for maintaining infrastructure following best practices in conservation/sustainable land management. Manages field research and species management sites by mowing research areas, maintaining trails, and maintaining site drainage. Works with the Field Station Committee to promote visibility of the field station through effective communication with an array of students, faculty, administrators, and public. The successful candidate will be required to live on site (housing provided) and will serve as an active presence for security and safety of operations on the field station grounds.
