General Requirements:
The Department of Art www.shsu.edu/art has about 550 undergraduate majors in Graphic Design, Studio Art, Photography, and Animation and offers an MFA in Art and Social Practice. The BFA in Animation is the largest program in the department with over 200 majors. Ranked by Animation Career Review as one of the top 50 Public Animation Schools and Colleges in the U.S, the SHSU Computer Animation curriculum is built on a foundation of fine art courses, emphasizing creativity and experimentation along with technical ability. The program engages students with current and historic trends in animation, and includes courses in the History of Animation, 2D Animation, 3D Modeling and Animation, 3D Character Animation, Experimental Animation, and Interactive Animation.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
The Department of Art at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice, Animation to begin Fall 2024. Duties include teaching 3 courses per semester and service on departmental committees.
