General Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Three years relevant administrative assistant experience, experience in the education field or in a related field.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs advanced administrative support duties for the Office of Educator Preparation in the College of Education ( COE ).

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Performs administrative support duties. Conducts research as may be required for preparation and dissemination of the information relating to assignment of public-school field placements for Fields I, II, III , and IV (all clinical teaching) and all other certification requirements from Texas Education Agency ( TEA ). Exercises judgment in the interpretation of policy, applications, and procedures. Represents an office or college on behalf of the Educator Preparation Program Services students and others. Plans and coordinates appointments, events, meetings, conferences, etc. Coordinates field placements and student teacher placements each fall and spring for all teacher candidates in field I, II, III , and IV (student teaching). Communicates with faculty, district personnel, and administration on all placements. Prepares spreadsheets for districts and e-mails placement information for fall and spring with information to include district placement information, student teacher calendar, Sam Houston Innovative Partnerships with Schools ( SHIPS ) student teacher letter, Mentor Orientation Workshop training information, certification information, and placement information that student teachers need. Coordinates and documents mentor teacher trainings, meetings and conferences, SHIPS meetings, culmination conference, field supervisor meetings, and student teacher orientation. Builds class schedules for registration, maintains class rosters for field supervisors, and unblocks and coordinates registration of student teacher courses. Monitors field placements and student teacher and field supervisor evaluations, focus content evaluations, student teacher applications, and student teacher assignment by University Supervisor and school district. Posts student teacher assignments. Coordinates meetings with student teacher, field supervisor, assigned school personnel as needed with Director for student teaching issues. Collaborates with partner districts/high school principals to ensure clarity in teacher pathways for students emphasizing choices and opportunities available. Provides guidance on selecting the most suitable educational routes based on students’ goals and interests. Performs other related duties as assigned.
