BAE Systems is seeking a Huntsville, AL-based EO/IR Signatures and Scene Generation Engineer to join a growing team developing cutting-edge capabilities in multimodal/multifunction seekers. You will serve as a key technical contributor on our integrated product team in the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS) product line. You will be responsible for deeply impactful contributions to next generation military autonomy. Members on this development team drive collaborative value creation that is greater than the sum of their individual contributions. You will participate in efforts across the full-spectrum of technology maturation ranging from Strategic Initiatives, IRAD/CRAD R&D prototypes, EMD units, LRIP units to full rate production systems. As a senior level contributor, you will work with other engineering staff & team leaders to grow and capture our knowledge through engineering changes, lessons learned, insights, Agile retrospectives and product/process improvements in your area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate will have direct experience developing physics based EO/IR signatures of complex objects, as well as deploying Scene Generation tools supporting imaging EO/IR sensor development and test. The ideal candidate will be comfortable architecting subsystem solutions that include a combination of COTS and Internally developed components, has strong background EO/IR phenomenology, optics, focal plane arrays, image processing, and relevant sensor hardware technologies.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it may take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. However, primary work location is expected to be onsite at BAE Systems' Huntsville facility.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must be a US Citizen with a Secret clearance, or higher

  • Candidate must possess either a BS or MS in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent

  • Experience in EO/IR Phenomenology, to include generation and propagation

  • Experience in the use of one or more industry EO/IR signature tools in the physics-based, characterization, modeling, and prediction of complex signatures (e.g., MODTRAN, SPIRITS, MuSES)

  • Experience in the use and deployment of one or more industry EO/IR scene generation tools (e.g., FLITES, DIRSIG, IRMA, SgPrime) in the design, development, and test of imaging EO/IR sensors

  • Experienced in developing custom tools and solutions that compliment or improve the capability of industry EO/IR tools

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Advanced degree in Physics, EE, Mathematics, or equivalent

  • Experienced using Linux based computing environments, to include high performance computing systems

  • EO/IR sensor array modeling and image processing

  • Knowledge of Automatic Target Recognition, Track, and Aim Point Selection techniques and algorithms

  • Experience in imaging EO/IR systems architecture, modeling, analysis, design, development, and test

  • Experience developing and using EO/IR scene generation tools in both all-software and hardware-in-the loop environments

  • Experience implementing systems engineering practices and working knowledge of DoD product development lifecycle

  • Experience leading technical project teams

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
