The engineer/scientist will assist in the preparation of standard operating procedures for planetary protection sampling and processing, a planetary protection equipment list, efficiency calculations for microbial recovery from sampling substrates, and project level plans and documentation. The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team environment, providing ideas and recommendations on improving testing, processing, and operation.

Job Requirements:

A degree in Microbiology or related field with 25+ years is required. (May consider 20+ years for a well-qualified candidate). A degree from an ABET accredited University is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 19 years of experience, MS with at least 23 years of experience, or BS with at least 25 years of experience.

The engineer/scientist should have:

Extensive planetary protection experience during mission life cycle and an advanced understanding of a planetary protection equipment list and bioburden calculation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interface with customers and management.
