Position Description Summary

Radial Solutions Inc is looking to fill a Manufacturing Process Planner Estimator position supporting our government customer.

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating related work processes for support and customer organizations with minimal supervision. This position plans sequences of operations that involve original innovations in setups, attachments, techniques, tools, producing plans, estimates, and scheduling for complex, non-routine parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals, metal alloys, and other materials. Manufacturing Process Planners utilize independent interpretation and translation of work orders, drawings, and specifications based on manpower, material, and tools. Work products are plans, estimates, and processes requiring a high degree of ingenuity and responsibility. Assignments typically involve detailing processes, prices, and estimates based on engineering drawings, evaluation of current capabilities (tools, machines, and personnel), outlining machining processes of surfaces at unusual or compound angles. Manufacturing Process Planners have a thorough knowledge of advanced shop mathematics and machine; have skill in using geometric and trigonometric formulas to compute compound angles, angular indexing, hole patterns, pitch lead, and pitch diameters. The Planners will work with designers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel in work order and process preparations. This position makes independent judgments and decisions and has leeway in methods and processes for accomplishing assignments. Responsible for recommending and using methods and procedures that contribute toward more efficient and economic fabrication and assembly operations, greater dimensional accuracy, or savings in machine time.

Required Experience/Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

10 years or more practical shop experience.

Preferred Experience:

Formal training in machine shop practices and basic computer skills acquired through vocational or military service school training.

Basic knowledge of an ERP system (Visual Manufacturing)

Hands on experience with highly technical assemblies and custom machined hardware.

Essential Job Functions:

The Manufacturing Planner will oversee the workflow of the production hub or facility. Their job includes the coordination of the production of one or more products. They ensure the promptness and accuracy of the production process. Also, they plan and prioritize the overall process for efficiency. It includes operation sequencing, machine process planning, assembly process planning and assembly planning.

Work Environment:

A large portion of the work will be done in an office environment and will require a presence in the shop as well as supporting various meetings and teleconferences.

Physical Requirements:

No lifting over 40 lbs. will be expected, standing and walking will be required from time to time as well as the ability to clime steps.

Other Essential Functions:

Manufacturing Planners will need to have clear communication skills both in the written instruction and in one-on-one conversation with the customer and the Technician or Machinist on the shop floor.

This position may be eligible for work from home flexibility subject to customer requirements.
