Position Description Summary

APT Research is hiring a part-time on call Explosives Safety Testing Subject Matter Expert to support our contracts in Huntsville, AL or remote. Responsibilities will include a variety of tasks requiring explosives safety expertise.

Responsibilities include,

  • Assisting large-scale explosives testing

  • The ability and willingness to support occasional large-scale testing efforts which involve extended temporary duty travel (TDY) and full days of light outdoor work in arid or humid environments

  • Comfortable with public speaking in technical settings and leading task groups

  • Working independently without supervision

  • Note: This position will not involve handling explosives directly.

    Required Experience/Education:

  • 20+ years of related experience

  • Full-scale explosives safety field testing

  • TP-21 Test Experience

    Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Active security clearance not required but must be able to obtain one.

    Preferred Experience:

  • Explosives safety experience

  • Full-scale explosives safety field testing

    Essential Job Functions:

    Work Environment:

  • Field testing

  • Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of testing

    Physical Requirements:

  • Test support requires extended standing/walking and light labor (potentially in arid environments)

    Other Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work independently without supervision, lead testing task teams, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement

  • Work attire must be appropriate for the work activity and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
