Huntsville Utilities Engineering Aide I in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Statement:Works in the field and in the office assisting Engineering Aide IIs, Engineering Aide IIIs, and other Department Personnel. Supports and assists the Engineering Aide II in performing designated duties.

Essential Duties:

Assists Engineering Aide IIs, Engineering Aide IIIs, and other | | Department Personnel with staking, obtaining easement | | descriptions and rights-of-way, and designing and processing work | | orders. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2. Works in the field and with available data to gather and | | translate plant conditions to records for both engineering and | | operating purposes. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Serves as back-up, to other Engineering Aides and the clerical | | staff as needed. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Communicates with customer/developers and makes on site | | investigations to determine facilities required to provide or | | maintain adequate service. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Prepares designs for necessary facilities (for customer | | development and/or for system improvement); determining equipment | | locations while coordinating with other utilities and obtaining | | necessary easements. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 6. Uses current computer software, such as MicroStation, Bentley, | | GTech, and SAP, to develop the necessary drawings, estimates, | | material sheets, and other required documents for residential, | | commercial, and industrial projects. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 7. Prepares ATC, fees, credits, and quotes according to company | | policies. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 8. Prepares maps as needed for tree trimming surveys, inspections, | | or other projects. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 9. Performs field surveys as needed for collecting notes for work | | order preparation, data collection, inspections, etc. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 10. Coordinates the installation of gas infrastructure with project | | managers and contractors. Works to resolve any conflicts that may | | arise. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 11. Coordinates with other utilities and/or departments to ensure | | there are no conflicts between existing or proposed utilities. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 12. Maintains a working knowledge of construction standards, code | | requirements, and job-related safety practices. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 13. Assists with customers regarding service requests and other | | issues. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 14. Assists during emergency restoration efforts as required. | + ----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 15.
