Description
We are in search of a Director of Finance who can effectively manage our financial operations. This role is based in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is responsible for managing the overall company's financial health and well-being, including all aspects of accounting, project control, financial planning, analysis, and reporting. The Director of Finance will lead financial operations, collaborating across functions to drive accuracy, strategy, and growth while maintaining compliance and integrity in financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee full-cycle execution of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
• Manage cash and treasury operations to ensure financial stability
• Lead the financial planning, including annual financial plans and quarterly forecast updates
• Perform in-depth analysis and reporting of actual performance to provide meaningful business intelligence
• Manage project cost and schedule control, applying Earned Value Management System or techniques as applicable
• Participate in the preparation of customer quotes and proposals, and review proposal submissions for financial impacts
• Ensure all Finance and Accounting activities comply with company policies, government & legal regulations, and industry standards
• Maintain an effective system of internal controls and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements
• Collaborate with tax professionals to manage the company’s good standing
• Oversee the use and ownership of accounting and financial modules of the company’s ERP tools
• Lead the Finance and Accounting team, providing direction and performance evaluations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
CPA, CMA, or Master's Degree is preferred.
10+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax filings.
Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, CAS, FAR, and DFARS.
Extensive experience in cost accounting and project control, particularly within government contracting environments.
Strong background in financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis to support business decisions and performance optimization.
Proven ability to design and implement effective internal controls, risk management processes, and financial reporting systems.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles to ensure compliance with company policies, government & legal regulations, and industry standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Experience using automated Accounting and ERP software such as Costpoint, Unanet, QuickBooks.
Experience developing complex US Government pricing models is preferred.
Strong organizational & planning skills, with the ability to prioritize work, be self-motivated, and manage multiple tasks independently.
Detail-oriented with advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong attention to detail while strategically cognizant of impact to the larger team, company, and industry/market perspective.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Demonstrated experience in leading teams of co-located and distantly located direct reports.
Professional, polite, and respectful behavior when interacting with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management.
