Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Accounting and Government Compliance is responsible for providing oversight of all accounting functions, and all financial and proposal audit processes, and providing support to internal, external, and Government audits. They will work with Executive Management to implement and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. They will oversee and ensure effective internal controls are in place to comply with GAAP, government contract financial reporting (FAR/DFARS/CAS), and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

Detailed Description:

  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, payroll, cost accounting, general accounting, billings, etc.

  • Oversee the preparation of the company’s financial reports and ensure they comply with the Teledyne Corporation accounting standards and reporting guidance as well as government contracting requirements.

  • Ensure the organization’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.

  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to proposal initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with the government’s financial regulations and that all government contract financial reporting is accurate and timely.

  • Work with government auditors to ensure proper compliance with contract requirements.

  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.

  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of audit results, changes in policies, procedures, or accounting practices.

  • Ensure proposals and responses to RFQs are audited and in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as in compliance with the customer solicitation.

  • Manage processes for financial consolidation and reporting of financial results for the Company.

  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business with strong accounting experience.

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.

  • CPA or CMA designation is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations in a government contracting environment.

  • Strong understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other relevant government regulations.

  • High level of proficiency in government financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Prefer knowledge of Deltek ERP software tools (Costpoint and Time & Expense).

  • Experience in partnering with an executive team. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
