The Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining an unbiased rolling 24-month unit forecast at the item level for their accounts/categories using current forecasting methodologies to enhance forecast accuracy (WFA), minimize forecast bias, and optimize inventory levels while achieving mutual financial objectives and expected customer service levels.

The Sr. Demand Planner manages internal and external relationships – understanding when to elevate concerns to their manager and/or utilize corporate resources to satisfy customer needs or requirements to maximize objectives consistent with customer and organizational expectations.

Demand Planning and Operations

  • Develops a short, medium, and long-term data-driven perspective on POS expectations, inventory levels, and competitive marketplace dynamics to create an unbiased 24 month rolling forecast.

  • Assembles and analyzes demand plans by driving the monthly planning cycle utilizing market information and statistical forecasts while working with Sales, Finance and Operations to obtain the necessary customer and product information.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of statistical algorithms; Adjusts parameters in pursuit of achieving WFA targets while balancing Attainment and Service levels; Ensures minimal cross customer impact

  • Establishes proficiency in APO/IBP Demand Planning software and the ability to interpret results from other internal operational support software such as Power BI, Apollo, Forecast Metrics, and IBB.

  • Works collaboratively with internal team members to proactively identify risks and opportunities to Plan achievement.

  • Collaborates with Supply Chain representatives to identify supply gaps and offer solutions to minimize out of stock or fill rate issues.

  • Manages the outlier process; works closely with Sales to identify opportunities or risks to the forecast that require Supply Chain approval prior to entering the forecast.

  • Works closely with team members to identify solutions to handle disposition of unproductive inventory.

Reporting, Communication, and Planning

  • Anticipates potential supply chain issues, actively communicates to Sales, and develops corrective actions.

  • Provides visibility to weekly orders versus forecast and assesses potential mix issues an impact to the future forecast.

  • Supports annual planning and bridge processes through the preparation of standardized spreadsheets. Identifies opportunities, risks, and new product expectations.

  • Supports 5-step S&OP process by developing a comprehensive monthly forecast review meeting covering current forecast, prior forecast, prior year, POS, and inventory position. Incorporates overall marketplace performance and its impact on the forecast.

  • Develops expert knowledge of account business practices related to and/or including inventory flow, inventory policy, store openings, and warehouse pulls and triggers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or Operations.

  • 3+ years’ experience in demand planning, supply planning, buying or related field

  • SAP experience is a plus

  • Proven business management experience in matrix organization and working with varying levels of leadership

  • Proven ability to simply and succinctly communicate complex and analytical conclusions

  • Experience in data analytics

  • Excellent PC skills with an emphasis on advanced planning systems and Excel
