How Will You Make an Impact?

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Global Bioproduction Analytics Team. This position supports a cross-functional team working toward the design and commercialization of new cell culture media and media supplement products. You will apply your chemistry skills to conduct established assays and play a role in developing novel analytical methods. In addition to responsibilities related to routine sample analysis and method development, the Scientist II will also assist in troubleshooting and optimizing existing products and work with internal and external customers to implement solutions.

What will you do?

  • Operates autonomously or with limited guidance from supervisors or senior researchers to analyze cell culture media samples.

  • Participate in analytical method development, optimization and validation as needed to develop new assays.

  • Performs analytical assays such as UPLC, LC-MC, IC, GC-MS, ICP-MS as needed.

  • Initiate and/or participate in process improvement projects such as updating processes and/or equipment to improve efficiencies and support business needs.

  • Assist in troubleshooting existing products and work with internal and external customers to implement solutions.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instrumentation (contacting instrument manufacturers when needed).

  • Follow all company safety, training, and quality regulations and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and follow Good Laboratory Practices.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technological and practical advancements in the field of analytical chemistry as they pertain to cellular processes.

  • Regularly communicate plans, actions and results with the manager and other leaders.

How will you get here?

Education (Minimum Qualifications, must have):

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or other related field (PhD, Master’s plus 1 year- or Bachelor’s plus 3 years-industry experience).

Experience

  • Previous experience with chromatography techniques such as HPLC/UHPLC and LC-MS technology is required.

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of chemistry principles, such as acid/base chemistry, sample solubility, and precipitation, as it relates to the sample preparation is desired.

  • Previous hands-on experience with other analytical chemistry techniques such as IC and/or ICP-MS is a differentiator.

  • Previous experience in MS Office tools, such as Excel, is required.

  • Knowledge of aqueous chemistry of inorganic and organic compounds used in cell culture media is desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate scientific results in a clear, concise and accurate manner.

  • Excellent computer skills with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate and manage multiple project tasks.
