Attend to the overall care of the Thoroughbred racehorses during the breeding period which includes grooming the horse before, during and after breeding. Responsible for the safety and well-being of the horses and workers around them. Will monitor the mares' conditions and take additional care to ensure the safe delivery of a foal. Will administer medication and/or treat the horses under the supervision of the farm manager. Treatment may vary from the use of bandages to rehabilitation exercises or intravenous medication. Must know how to properly apply bandages. Will assist in the breeding of the mares by holding the mare as the stallion covers the mare. Will also utilize the equipment within the breeding shed. Will assist in the care and treatment of newborn foals.
