Coarc was established in 1965 by a small group of parents and interested community members within Columbia County, New York to provide a place for their children who were experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, learn and work.
This is a non-exempt position
Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week: 8:00 am - 5pm pm an hour unpaid lunch
Pay Rate: $16.00 without NYSED TA Certification
$18.00 with NYSED TA Certification

This position will assist the classroom teacher in the instruction, organization, preparation and implementation of learning activities; assist the teacher with informal assessment of the children's skills; service as a role model to the children.
The focus of this position:
Maintain positive and supportive relationships with all children
Provide support via children's behavior plan as applicable
Consult with teachers or management staff as appropriate regarding any difficulties incurred with child during the day
Ensure the safety and health of the children and advise management staff of an potentially unsafe or unhealthy conditions
Assist the teacher in the implementation of instructional activities
Assist in the inventory and preparation of classroom materials including preparation, organization, clean up and storage of classroom materials
Work cooperatively with the teacher, clinicians and other classroom staff to meet the needs of the students
Participate in all required meetings and trainings

The requirements for this position:
High School Diploma or GED (now called TASC)
One-year experience with preschool special education children (preferred)
A valid driver's license
Ability to be certified in all required trainings
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 80 pounds
Willingness to assist in other classrooms when needed
