We are recruiting a dynamic individual to fill a key leadership role focused on strategic growth initiatives as a part of WSP’s Strategic Growth Team (SGT). The Texas/Louisiana Regional Strategic Growth Director will be based in Dallas, Houston or Austin and will have direct oversight over sales and marketing strategy. They will partner with all business lines (Transportation, Advisory & Planning, Water, Energy, Environment, and Buildings) to align priorities and drive successful client, pursuit, proposal and visibility activities across Texas and Louisiana. The role reports to the Senior Vice President of the Strategic Growth Team responsible for the Western U.S.

Your Impact

  • Supports Regional Executive and Business Lines with development of annual strategic development playbook to advance company’s strategic plan within the Region, and contributes directly to annual sales, funding and revenue goals, hit rate and return on investment.

  • Executes best in class client account strategies in partnership with regional and national leadership, including strategic and tactical plans for growing WSP’s market share with established and emerging client accounts. Champions delivery of the full WSP consultancy across a diversified client base.

  • Enhances WSP’s brand and reputation within Texas and Louisiana. Coordinates with business line, client account leads, and Regional Executive to develop the strategy for WSP’s participation in regional awards and industry associations, with an eye on aligning with clients, targeted growth markets, and creating thought leadership opportunities for WSP’s technical experts.

  • Executes best in class pursuit positioning activities in line with WSP’s standards, and oversees capture planning, proposals and presentations with an eye on continual improvement and incorporating intelligence into future efforts.

  • Develops a world-class team of sales and business development support professionals through mentoring, training, sharing best practices, and challenging individuals to deliver their best work

  • In partnership with Regional Executive, executes regional growth initiatives that may be tied to specific cities/locations, key clients, or key services.

  • Contributes to ongoing strategic activities such as M&A research, recruiting, identifying emerging market trends and policies, political and civic engagement, and operational effectiveness. This role leverages technology and global resources to find ways to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Inspires, motivates and promotes the best of WSP to our clients and communities to ensure strong employee engagement and client service.

  • Encourages, supports, and promotes the business development acumen of all staff within WSP.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, Marketing, Communications, Business, English or related field

  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in the A/E/C industry, preferably within a large matrixed organization

  • Experience leading teams and developing professionals while providing targeted and immediate feedback to facilitate their best work

  • Experience in leading and winning large, complex, strategic pursuits

  • Visibility in industry professional organizations (WTS, ACEC, APWA, etc.)

  • Ability to build relationships with teams and oversee strategic actions with others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strategic mindset and sound judgment to identify gaps in pursuits and proposals and coach team on solutions

  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes with a commitment to internal and external client service

  • Competitive passion for excellence and the ability to build that passion in others

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of WSP’s history and key business lines (Transportation, Buildings, Water, Energy, Environment, and Advisory), including an understanding of the competitive environment and regional players along with an understanding of local politics.
