Universal Engineering Sciences Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and maintain accurate accounts payable records, ensuring all bills and payments are timely and correct.
Reconcile accounts payable ledgers and bank accounts.
Process credit card reconciliations and oversee petty cash transactions.
Prepare and issue 1099 forms in compliance with tax requirements.
Assist in month-end closings, including journal entries and other reconciliations.
Support the purchase order, cash application, and billing processes.
Provide assistance during audits and handle additional tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Experience with QuickBooks or Sage 50 is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
At least 2 years of bookkeeping and accounts payable experience.
