General Purpose:

This position is focused on planning methods, activities and processes. Working with ERP system and Production departments to create, assign and prioritize work. The Sr. Planner works in the Supply Chain team to analyze potential financial and inventory impacts, supporting project commitments with focus on accuracy. Supports project inquiries and updates as well as performing inventory adjustment transactions as required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and recommends Continuous Improvement initiatives. Ability to recognize areas for improvement and suggest new/improved methods.

  • Work Order planning function. Cut work orders. Daily review and processing of MRP order messages and releasing work orders.

  • Identifies and implements best practices in Production Planning and it’s associated internal customers.

  • Identifies potential cost savings opportunities by alternate sourcing or through engineering design changes. Encourages suppliers to recommend cost savings opportunities by improving manufacturing capability or utilizing alternative materials and methods.

  • Ability to perform all system transactions as required. Capable of troubleshooting and performing complex system reconciliation as necessary.

  • Inputs key data into ERP as part of Engineering Implementation.

  • Provides back-up for other purchasing/stockroom activities as required to meet business objectives.

  • Follows all procedures and work instructions; notifies or recommends to supervisor when procedures require update.

  • Exhibits and demonstrates behaviors and attitudes as that of a “team player”.

  • Follows and practices all safety procedures. Notifies supervisor immediately when potential hazards exist.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Planning, Engineering and Procurement best practices and requirements in a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across multiple departments.

  • Capable of demonstrating a high level of accuracy; attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Windows based software including Word and Excel.

  • Experience with engineering change control systems a plus.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent

  • 5+ years of Planning, Purchasing or Engineering department experience in a manufacturing/operations environment.
