We are hiring a Senior Maintenance Mechanic for our award-winning retirement community. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the troubleshooting and intermediate repair of apartment HVAC equipment and the overall upkeep of residential apartments and public areas through responsive, accurate, and efficient maintenance.

The Senior Maintenance Mechanic will assist in the training of departmental staff on the proper techniques/principles of facilities maintenance; and will also serve as a technical resource to all staff members and be responsible for the overall condition of their assigned neighborhood.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, starting at $25 / hr

How you will make an impact:

  • Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor in the daily maintenance operations of both the interior and exterior campus and buildings of the Community

  • Direct the daily activities of the Maintenance team

  • Ensures all work orders are done in a timely and efficient manner while providing detailed information.

  • Confirms all necessary scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment while following manufacturer’s recommendations has been followed

  • Responds with a sense of urgency to emergency calls for system and equipment failure

  • Will be responsible for maintaining proper levels of materials/supplies for the neighborhood(s) assigned to ensure the timely and efficient completion of necessary tasks.

  • Initiates preventive maintenance on commercial appliances, HVAC units, and other equipment as scheduled and will troubleshoot and repair a variety of commercial kitchen equipment along with the installation of all-new equipment, fixtures, etc.

  • Will be expected to work a reasonable amount of scheduled and “on-call” overtime as necessary.

  • Performs additional duties requested by the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance/Maintenance & Engineering Manager in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Community

What you will need:

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • State-issued driver’s license

  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment complex, commercial building construction, or maintenance

  • Must possess a working knowledge of residential building maintenance to include, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and appliances: solid knowledge of HVAC.

  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues; basic computer skills and knowledge.

  • Must possess current EPA certification to handle refrigerants.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., over 50 lbs. must use the aid of a hand truck or get assistance, and move light furniture; standing on one’s feet for a long period of time, bending and extensive walking, be able to push and pull, climb and descend a ladder to 6/8 feet or higher.
