Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description We are searching for a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant in the Manufacturing industry, to be based in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial updates to senior management, supporting and managing the accounting of a specific manufacturing plant, and coordinating and supporting activities across departments.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accounting of a specific manufacturing plant, including the Profit & Loss, Manufacturing Statement, and Balance Sheet accounts.

• Coordinate and support activities across various locations and departments, managing multiple deadlines.

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and annual close duties, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.

• Ensure adherence to and effectiveness of internal control in own area of responsibility, maintaining general and supporting sub-ledgers.

• Analyze variances with balance sheet accounts and income/expense reports to identify potential issues and report on unusual spending.

• Analyze the Inventory Change Profit & Loss Accounts monthly, identifying and reporting on manufacturing variances from standards.

• Prepare and distribute daily, monthly, and quarterly reports, including the monthly reporting packages and variance analysis.

• Assist in preparation of monthly forecasts and annual operating expense and capital budgets.

• Ensure accuracy of inventory, perform month-end inventory revaluation procedures, establish slow moving/obsolete reserves, and handle overall costing of inventory.

• Process Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable intercompany transactions between companies and balance monthly with counterparts.

• Operate as the key financial accountant for assigned plant, providing overall control of the balance sheet and Profit & Loss for assigned plant.

• Assist plant management with the cost savings/profit improvement programs, establishing the savings tracking models.

• Facilitate internal and external audit needs.

• Utilize skills in SAP and Month End Close processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role within the manufacturing industry

• Proficiency in Month End Close procedures

• Strong knowledge and experience with SAP software

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
