THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant for our manufacturing client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing all cost accounting functions, including operating budget preparation, cost analysis, and monitoring new projects expenses. This position plays a crucial role in managing and implementing effective financial strategies to maximize profits and achieve business objectives. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Implement cost accounting systems and procedures and ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly close cost accounting reports.

  • Perform cost analyses and prepare budget reports for different manufacturing departments.

  • Develop and implement cost standards and procedures, improvement methods for cost control and cost reduction.

  • Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability, and utilization.

  • Perform margin and pricing analysis and maintain product cost system.

  • Analyze financial data and extract and define relevant information for improvement opportunities.

  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to understand and monitor actual costs of production.

  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.

  • Review operations and propose value-added recommendations to management to improve efficiency and profitability.

  • Train and guide the cost accounting team to ensure their skills and performance meet the company's goals and standards.

    Requirements

EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR SUCCESS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.

  • Exceptional knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, and cost management principles.

  • Proficiency in ERP applications such as SAP and Oracle, and the Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial colleagues.
