Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

Our established client in central Houston is seeking to layer in a Senior Accountant to their team. This is a great organization with a dynamic culture. In Office position.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

  • Monitor budget variances and report significant issues to management.

Accounts Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Audit Support:

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits.

  • Prepare audit schedules and provide necessary documentation to auditors.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.

  • Provide training and support to accounting team members to enhance their professional development.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

  • Stay updated with accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).

  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
