Nabors Senior Manager Electrical Engineering in Houston, Texas

As a Senior Electrical Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering projects and ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead a team of electrical engineers and technicians with a hands-on approach, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Your role will involve collaborating with other departments, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.

  • Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians.

  • Develop and implement electrical engineering strategies and plans.

  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project integration.

  • Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards.

  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide progress reports to senior management.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues.

  • Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing

  • Provide technical support to service and repair and other aftermarket groups within the organization.

  • Lead and participate in design reviews

  • Evaluates new ideas for patent eligibility, and work with patent lawyers through the patent application process

  • Interact with vendors in discovery of new technologies

  • Participate in industry conferences and committees such as API, IADC, SPE, AADE, etc.

  • Oversee and manage department budgets

  • Other duties as required and assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

The Senior Manager of Electrical Systems Engineering has overall responsibility for engineering and design personnel within the electrical engineering group, reporting to the Senior Director of Controls and Automation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards.

  • Proven experience in managing medium and large-scale electrical projects.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in relevant electrical design software and tools

  • Preferred strong background in AC drives and Power Systems (GE Converteam and ABB preferred)

  • Working knowledge of PLC systems (Rockwell and Beckhoff preferred)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write in English.

  • Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • As per basic engineering requirements.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to create instructions and furnish then in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to understand and assess level of competency of all employees in the electrical engineering groups.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Capable of using LabVIEW

  • Working knowledge of PLC and programming languages

  • AutoCAD/Solidworks/Adept or PLM systems

  • Spreadsheet and word processor software

  • Scheduling and Powerpoint presentation software

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Registration with at least one applicable engineering society required (i.e. ASME, IEEE, etc)

  • Valid Driver License

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Eligible to work in the USA

  • Valid passport

  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
