The City of Houston, Human Resources Department, seeks a dynamic, independently self-sufficient, customer-focused, and technologically savvy Senior Human Resources Generalist. The candidate selected for this position will work collaboratively within the Human Resources Operations, Shared Services Division, supporting various City of Houston Departments as a business partner and point-of-contact to provide superior human resources services.
The ideal candidate must accurately assist with initiating, tracking, and successfully uploading departmental personnel actions into the City of Houston's HROne SuccessFactors-Employee Central (EC) System. Provide backup for Temporary Services and FMLA while also performing other duties essential to the unit's efficient operation as needed to meet our clients' expectations and requirements. Will also utilize SAP SuccessFactors – EC and SAP/ECC systems.
The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for the following:
Assist with the preparation and processing of personnel actions via HROne SuccessFactors – Employee Central (EC).
Review and maintain logs, reports, and track actions in EC to ensure successful and timely upload.
Creating and maintaining departmental Organizational Management (OM) activities.
May serve as the department’s Drug Test Coordinator and monitor the Alere Datalink system.
Will serve as the department’s Houston Employee Assessment and Review (HEAR) Administrator.
May assist in other areas such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Temporary Services Coordinator.
Serve as a Municipal Phase Down Program (MPDP) Liaison and assist employees with inquiries regarding Retirement/Separation activities to ensure compliance.
Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities.
Administers Drug Testing, as well as departmental personnel and medical records administration.
Will interpret human resources policies and procedures.
May perform other duties as assigned and participate in special projects as needed to ensure efficient operation of the unit.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of related professional experience in human resources are required. Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis

PREFERENCES
The preferred candidate for the Human Resources Department must demonstrate leadership potential, be customer-focused, and possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and people skills. Strong presentation skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as SAP are preferred.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
