MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Educational Specialist - TIPS Education Center in Houston, Texas

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The Senior Educational Specialist primarily aims to create visually compelling and engaging multimedia content across various digital platforms. This role involves designing graphics, animations, videos, and interactive media to support marketing, educational, and communication initiatives. This position requires proficiency in photography, graphic design software, animation tools, and video editing programs and a strong understanding of design principles, user experience, and emerging media trends. The ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and oversee creating, distributing, and managing media content across various platforms to ensure effective and consistent communication with the audience. The Senior Educational Specialist also mentors and trains staff, provides expert guidance on media-related projects and ensures that all media services meet the organization's branding and communication standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, proficiency in multimedia tools, maintaining high-quality standards in all media interactions and services, and continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes. Acts as a subject matter expert in resolving customer service interactions, ensuring optimal outcomes. Gathers and analyzes data from learner relations and customer interactions to drive improvements.

Key Functions Media MANAGEMENT (75%)

· Leads the generation of original and creative ideas for multimedia content.

· Demonstrates expertise in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

· Proficient in animation and video editing tools (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).

· Possesses a strong understanding of design principles, including color theory, typography, and layout.

· Creates visually appealing and user-friendly designs.

· Ensures that all educational media materials are up-to-date, relevant, and accessible.

· Utilizes multimedia software and tools for content creation and editing.

· Oversees the organization and maintenance of media content libraries.

· Applies advanced instructional methods in designing, delivering, and evaluating practical educational components to support learning activities and interventions; this includes incorporating evidence-based teaching strategies, leveraging innovative technologies, and using various assessment tools to measure learning outcomes.

· Collaborates with subject matter experts to integrate real-world applications and hands-on activities that enhance understanding and retention of material.

Quality Assurance & Collaboration (25%)

· Works closely with other departments to align media service strategies with overall organizational goals and ensure cohesive messaging.

· Maintains high-quality standards in all media interactions and services, continuously seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes.

· Addresses complex customer inquiries and issues professionally and efficiently, utilizing problem-solving skills to achieve favorable resolutions.

· Collects feedback from customers and learners to refine and enhance service delivery, ensuring that the organization remains responsive to their needs.

· Prepares regular reports on customer service metrics, media performance, and training outcomes, providing actionable management insights.

· Shares best practices and insights with colleagues and the educational community.

· Promotes media use in education through workshops, presentations, and conferences.

· Advocates for the integration of media literacy into the curriculum.

· Represents the organization at industry events and networking opportunities.

· Maintains detailed records of project progress, outcomes, and impact.

· Prepares reports for stakeholders and funding bodies to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of media programs.

· Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in Education, Behavioral Science, Computer Science, Business or related discipline.

Preferred: M aster's or graduate work in Instructional Technology or related field.

Experience

Required: Five years of curriculum development or project management experience in technology, business or health care (equivalent to the level of the MDACC Educational Specialist) and one year of supervisory experience.

Preferred:

-Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

-Experience with Canvas and scripting languages (JavaScript).

-MS Office, including Excel, Visio, MS Project.

-Advanced skills with Adobe CS, including Flash, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

-Proficiency in creating logos, brand guidelines and marketing materials that align with the institutions policies.

-Skill in creating custom illustrations and icons.

-Abilities to adapt illustration style to match the project's needs.

-Proficiency with JavaScript and HTML.

-Proficiency administering an academic course management system, preferably Canvas.

-Ability to create color schemes that enhance the visual impact and convey the desired mood or message
