Senior Coordinator, Alumni Relations

Description

The Senior Coordinator, Alumni Relations coordinates programs and services designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between the University, students, alumni and the community, with a strategic focus on general alumni inquiries and student engagement with the Alumni Relations office. Responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the programs in their responsibility and collaborates on the overall marketing and communications led by the Alumni Relations office. Will provide general support to the Director on planning and execution of engagement opportunities, fundraising, reporting and volunteer management.

Duties:

  • Supports the Director of Alumni Relations with the planning, executing, and continual development of alumni programs and events on and off campus. Acts as designated representative on behalf of Director when necessary.

  • Develops and maintains creative means for alumni to engage with UHCL, particularly with students. Organizes and manages signature Alumni Relations initiatives focused on Student Engagement, including but not limited to Student Alumni Ambassadors and Class Ring program.

  • Assists with content management of alumni website, social media platforms and e-newsletters.

  • Answers general alumni inquiries, including but not limited to biographical and employment updates, volunteer interest, and alumni card requests.

  • Works collaboratively with Division of Student Affairs and Colleges to assist in the coordination and execution of Alumni Relations efforts to increase participation and opportunities.

  • Works with Director on recognition and engagement of alumni with key accomplishments, job updates, awards, etc.

  • Assists with the management of Alumni Association volunteers, including UHCL AA Board of Directors, committees and general volunteers.

  • Manages capturing and entry of alumni engagement activity in the alumni database for the tracking and annual reporting of alumni engagement metrics and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Communications or Business.

  2. Minimum three years of professional work experience building relationships which has involved direct face-to-face contact with clients, customers, or members of the public.

  3. Knowledge of multi-channel marketing strategies.

  4. Knowledge related to higher education, alumni relations, student involvement and/or community outreach.

  5. Knowledge of relevance and impact of metrics capture and reporting.

  6. Skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  7. Skills in project planning including time management, marketing and budgeting.

  8. Skills in written and verbal communication.

  9. Ability to manage long-range planning while prioritizing and completing multiple tasks simultaneously.

  10. Ability to take initiative, think creatively, and problem-solve.

  11. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Desired:

Experience organizing events, working with students, volunteer management, reporting, project management and/or marketing.
