AIG Senior Account Risk Engineering Specialist -O&P in Houston, Texas

The Account Risk Engineer will perform both account risk assessments and field inspections of Energy accounts including one or more of the following occupancies: chemical, oil & petrochemical (O&P), and pharmaceutical . Communicate findings to underwriters to help them with their decision making. Work with our clients to establish loss control services, understand findings of loss control visits, and implement loss control recommendations. Contribute to organizational projects to enhance the effectiveness of the team.
How you will create an impact
Possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Technology
Possess 10+ years of risk insurance experience or O&P / chemical industry experience industry experience.
Possess strong analytical skills.
Understanding of process safety management and equipment loss control safety features.
Able to assess exposures from wind, flood, and earthquake.
Be highly motivated and work well without close supervision. The individual must be able to make decisions with and without established guidelines and to provide technical support to underwriters & clients.
Ability to complete assignments on-time.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written), computer skills and a client focused approach.
Industry Experience, Professional Engineer (desired but not required).
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to perform physical activities required for the position.
Must be able to type at a computer for 8 hours a day with 3 or 4, 15-minute breaks doing other work and a lunch break interspersed.
Must be able to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection)
What you’ll need to succeed
Perform loss control inspections and account reviews for a wide range of O&P and Chemical accounts
Conduct periodic client service meetings with underwriting, broker, and client
Analyze and manage risk improvements of an account and work with the client to prioritize and implement them
Create engineering service budgets for our clients.
Conduct reviews of O&P and chemical field survey reports
Periodically conduct or witness property loss prevention surveys of key facilities
Project reviews for clients
·Technically analyze the loss prevention attributes of a facility
Analyze process safety management programs, equipment loss control features, water supplies and sprinkler systems to determine system adequacy
Identify occupancy hazards and assess the adequacy of their protection features
Identify and assess the impact of external exposures on a facility
Determine fire and natural catastrophe loss estimates for a facility
Mentor and train lesser experienced staff
Participate in regional or global projects and presentations
