UTHealth Research Assistant II - Children s Learning Institute - 2400033F in Houston, Texas

Position Summary:

Responsible for multiple projects and will be working with multiple supervisors and occasionally will assist in training others in various tasks. May be responsibility for day-to-day scheduling and coordination of various research projects.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Obtain reliability status on various objective and subjective coding analysis measures pertaining to projects within the department. Attend trainings and regular meetings to ensure reliability is maintained. Must grasp new measures and concepts quickly. Assists in training other Research Assistants in coding schemes and meet weekly coding goals.

Perform cognitive/social/emotional assessments with children and additional interviews with teachers and families, which include an extensive battery of psychological and educational based evaluations. Successful training and certification is required. May assist senior research staff in managing and tracking appropriate research equipment and supplies.

Complete research projects requiring live coding and/or observational evaluations and adapt to meet differing project needs quickly, including certifying other observers.

May assist senior staff in maintaining accurate database records to track data collection and ensure project progress.

Attend relevant trainings and assist in recruiting subjects (teachers, students, families, and individuals) and obtaining informed consent from potential research study participants. Organize presentations and present study information to parent/teacher gatherings.

May be asked to serve in an intervention or coaching role involving extensive trainings and regular meetings to maintain certification and reliability.

Depending on expertise and years of experience, may also be asked to assist faculty in training others or carrying out various phases of these interventions.

Supervision of a group of part-time employees at a designated location may be required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Completion of the Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects is required within 5 days of employment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred. Reliable personal transportation as some projects may require extensive out of town travel which will vary from Houston and surrounding areas to various sites across the state of Texas.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, human development, biology or relevant field or experience in lieu of degree; master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

One year of behavioral analysis or research experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
