DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee the coordination, planning, and administration of various design and/or construction contracts, permits and projects to ensure delivery within prescribed scope of work and budgetary and time constraints. Assist the Senior Project Manager and lead Assistant Project Managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordination and manage the work activities of construction personnel, technical professionals, consultants, and other outside agencies to provide support, resolve concerns and attain project completion.

• Develop contractual budgetary controls, managing schedules, and establishing/executing the scope of work.

• Interprets and articulate contracts and construction and design standards per City code and design manual documents. Conducts constructability reviews of plans and specifications.

• Conducts occasional site investigations and inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and requirements.

• Provides timely responses to submittals from construction personnel. Verifies and processes progress payments and negotiates cost of changes to contracts.

• Monitor, manage and organize various tasks in the field and in office. Processing of information affecting required change orders.

• Respond to customer inquiries and grievances. Actively providing solutions and first-class customer service.

• Fleet management: Managing all fleet vehicles, making sure that all vehicles are within current safety compliance and are receiving their regular maintenance.

• Draft field reports and records on project execution.

• Prepares and evaluates processes and procedures to ensure project goals are achieved. Provides technical solutions to challenges encountered during construction or design activities.

• Attends various project meetings.

• Travel to conduct site investigation field visits upon request. Interpret and coordinate results within the groups, record in the system. Not limited to various subjects including W/WW verification, location, size, connection.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.

This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier III Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position. Considerable knowledge of design or construction is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Four years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geotechnical, environmental or a closely related field are required.

Directly related professional architectural, construction or landscape design experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
