MD Anderson Cancer Center Program Coordinator, Pediatric Endocrinology in Houston, Texas

Summary

Plan, coordinate, and implement designated programs in the department, with emphasis on the Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program. Assist the Program Director, Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program, and Pediatric Endocrinology Faculty with planning and implementing all initiatives, involving pediatric endocrine neoplasia and consultative clinical services, educational operations, financial operations, research operations, and strategic planning. Manage and coordinate special events, clinical and research programs related to Pediatric Endocrinology Services and the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program.

Collaborate with faculty and staff in multiple departments and institutions, including UT Health Science Center, Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, and international oncology collaborations, e.g., Child and Adolescent Thyroid Consortium (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hospital for Sick Children, Yale University, Boston Children's Hospital), and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Workshop. Impacts the operation of the Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program through activities related to financial, compliance, and future program development.

Key Functions

1. Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program Operations/Initiatives (35%)

Manage communications and coordinate meetings that support the operations of pediatric endocrine neoplasia and consultative services activities, to include initiatives for Thyroid Cancer, Pituitary Tumors, Hereditary Endocrine Neoplasia Syndromes (MEN1, MEN2, VHL, familial paraganglioma syndromes), and Pediatric Endocrine Tumors

Facilitate operations and procedures through analysis and recommendation for improvement

Assist with planning retreats, workshops, conferences, experiential training programs, and projects

Coordinate all aspects of the Multidisciplinary Pituitary Monthly Conference and ad hoc seminars of the pediatric endocrinology faculty

Manage communications about Pediatric Endocrinology related conferences, e.g. Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program Lecture Series, Grand Rounds, etc.

Collaborate with the Pediatrics Division and department GME educational programs to maintain the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Agreement with UT Health Science Center (UTHEALTH).

Coordinate patient education materials with Child and Adolescent Center and Endocrine Genetics Clinic

Identify and develop funding opportunities and collaborate on the preparation of pharmaceutical and foundation grant applications to support the Pediatric Endocrinology Services

2. Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program Coordination (30%)

Assist the Program Director in the planning and operation of the Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program activities

Coordinate educational and research collaboration requirements for UT Health Science Center, Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, and international oncology collaborations, e.g., Child and Adolescent Thyroid Consortium (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hospital for Sick Children, Yale University, Boston Children's Hospital), and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Workshop.

Assemble documents to support pediatric endocrinology research

Assist with recruitment, orientation, and on boarding of pediatric endocrinology faculty, and advanced practice professionals

Schedule meetings and conferences, e.g. Department Administrative Meeting, etc.

Identify and communicate funding opportunities, including grant, foundations, and philanthropy

Coordinate multidepartment and divisional meetings and conferences to develop and implement the Pediatric Endocrinology Services and related initiatives

Provide administrative and financial support to assigned faculty and staff. This may include travel arrangements, travel reimbursement, tracking and monthly reporting of faculty PRS spending, calendar management, correspondence composition, CV and MyCV maintenance, journal article and manuscript preparation and proofing.

3. Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program Reports (25%)

Gather operational data for the Pediatric Endocrinology Services Program; assist with identification of opportunities to build upon existing and to initiate new initiatives

Assist in coordination and implementation of new initiatives

Develop and distribute routine and ad hoc activity reports

Coordinate the development of documents and meeting materials for routine and special or ad hoc endocrine neoplasia services reports

Verify compliance with Institutional requirements, guidelines and policies.

4. Special Projects (10%)

Develop and determine priorities and monitor status of special projects

Use independent judgment and complex analysis to gather facts and determine appropriate solutions generally based on experience and department practice.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.

Education preferred: Master's degree.

EXPERIENCE: Three years project/program coordination experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
