MD Anderson Cancer Center Program Coordinator - Cancer Biology in Houston, Texas
SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator performs highly responsible project coordination in the Department of Cancer Biology. The position is responsible for coordinating activities for Cancer Biology and the Metastasis Research Center including administration, coordination and academic resources. The position requires considerable exercise of independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to make effective decisions. The coordinator must be able to work as a team player and must have thorough knowledge of institutional regulations, policies and procedures along with the ability to work independently.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Metastasis Research Center
Coordinates educational opportunities on the biology of metastasis as established the Chair.
Coordinate grand rounds and lectures as established the Chair.
Coordinate the annual retreat including presentations from members of the MRC as well as recipients of grant funding provided by the MRC. Includes the annual Isaiah J. Fidler Lectureship in Metastasis Biology, as selected by members of the MRC.
Assist in the coordination or collection of grant submissions as related to MRC.
Prepare annual progress reports for submission.
Cancer Biology Seminar Series
Coordinates speakers for educational/research exchange gatherings such as the Journal Club and the weekly seminar series.
Coordinates speakers for the departmental Distinguished Lecture program and Chalk Talks. This entails arranging air travel, hotel, ground transportation, visiting itinerary, making dinner reservations, conference room reservations, technological setup, and preparing honoraria and reimbursements of lecture related expenses for approximately 20 speakers per year.
Coordinate the R. E. "Bob" Smith Distinguished Lecture, an annual endowed lecture that highlights the work of internationally recognized leaders in the field of cancer biology research.
Cancer Biology Endowment Funds
Monitors the endowment funds for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of costs as stipulated in the Management and Expenditure of Endowment Funds Policy.
Submits annual reports for endowments to the Development Office for review and forwarding to the donor.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years project/program coordination experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
