Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people.  We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Production Engineer within our U.S. Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, Delaware Basin Business Unit based in Houston, Texas.

 The Production Engineer within our First Delivery Team provides project management and technical support for the Operations Superintendent or Maintenance Manager.  This support covers HSE program development and implementation, oversight of contractor safety management programs, field training program development and implementation, field process development and support, and operations support for complex tasks supporting safety and operability improvements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Act as a safety leader in the office and in the field.
  • Ensure HSE considerations are prioritized first when creating all programs and procedures and consistently look for opportunities to install engineering barriers to replace operational barriers.
  • Actively contribute to all safety meetings and stand downs when in the field.
  • Actively participate in and advocate for others to participate in OXY’s BBS program when in the field.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for new well flowback facility design and flowback operations.
  • Ensure all basis of design incorporate latest HSE compliance, standards, and recommended practices.
  • Participate in HSE initiatives and help drive for Operational Excellence.
  • Recommend modifications and/or investments to upgrade systems to reduce operating costs.
  • Track and manage cost, Capex and Opex, associated with Flowback and First Lift Installation in terms of Baseline, B-plan, Actual/OL and Variance drivers.
  • Conduct lookback of operation costs and compare to benchmark to ensure continuous improvement is ongoing.
  • Responsible for monitoring all flow back operation performance to identify and implement production enhancements for wells, facilities, and or operations.
  • Work closely with subsurface, production, and field teams to optimize well drawdown and facility operations.
  • Work closely with production assurance team and operations to help with system debottlenecking.
  • Recommend system upgrades/retrofits/adjustments to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Prepare clear, technically supported memos, recommendations, and reports.
  • Participate in or coordinate MOC, HAZIDS, HAZOPS, PSSRs, and PHAs.
  • Mentor early career engineers and interns.
  • Design and implement artificial lift systems capable of achieving target draw down and optimum deliverability.

Leadership

  • Provide mentorship for less experienced engineers and interns in areas of expertise as appropriate.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ME, ChemE, or PE) with at least 8 years of relevant experience

Required Professional and Technical Knowledge/Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:

·    Demonstrated safety leadership skills.

·    Proactive engagement with internal stakeholders and external parties (contractors, vendors, and partners).

·    Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members, other departments, and working interest partners to define, sell, and execute value adding work.

·      Exhibit the qualities of a good team player such as conveying a positive attitude within/outside the organization, contributing ideas, and collaborating with team members to find new ways of working efficiently to extract the maximum value from assigned assets.

·    Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and deal with ambiguity.

·     Ability to apply engineering skills to problem-solving and performance analysis.

·    Strong facilitation and project management skills

·    Demonstrated strong computer skills

oWorking knowledge of industry software packages such as Spotfire, Power-BI, PI, and, PETEX Suite, PIPESIM, HYSIS, PROSPER, OFM etc.

oWorking knowledge of automation and dataflow

  •  Understanding of hydraulic modeling, artificial lift types and nodal analysis software.
  • Fundamental understanding of inflow and outflow concepts.

 Desired Professional and Technical Knowledge/Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications :

·    Working knowledge of Lean Engineering and other process improvement techniques

·    Experience in unconventional reservoir operations, particularly in the Permian Basin.

·    Solid understanding of the upstream oil and gas value chain.

·     Willingness to expand knowledge of industry financial drivers.

·    Field experience as a well or facility operator.

·    25% minimum travel requirement to the field in West Texas.
