Job Description

The Healthcare Market Division (HMD) is currently seeking an experienced Product Manager to join the Diagnostics and Life Sciences Portfolio Management team. The Product Manager will lead the development and execution of product strategy, drive innovation, and most importantly, ensure the successful launch and adoption of new products! Key success metrics of this position are revenue growth, portfolio profitability and measured progress to portfolio expansion goals. The PM will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, supply chain, marketing, QARA, product admin and sales, to deliver exceptional products that meet the needs of customers and drive business growth. They will coordinate with suppliers to develop marketing campaigns as well as effective promotions. The PM will deliver sales tools, collateral, and curated assets to commercial sellers for utilization with HMD customers. Lastly, the Product Manager will work closely with Thermo Fisher Scientific self-manufacturing divisions to align on business goals that serve overall corporate growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement product strategy, roadmap, and vision for HMD products, aligning them with overall company goals and objectives

  • Deploy direct strategies to identify and source new suppliers and products (attend industry conferences and trade shows)

  • Acquire market research and competitive analysis to understand market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for growth/portfolio expansion

  • Work closely with Business Development and Legal to broker favorable commercial terms and conditions with new suppliers

  • Direct pricing and positioning strategies within the new product portfolio to ensure profitable growth

  • Work with suppliers to deliver go-to-market strategies, positioning, and messaging to commercial sellers

  • Cooperate with Learning & Development on training opportunities for all key suppliers and products in portfolio

  • Support sellers in demonstrating the clinical utility of product/s (employing proof sources and use cases) while overcoming obstacles (address market and product challenges)

  • Monitor and analyze product performance, user feedback, and market trends to identify areas for improvement

  • Provide suppliers with customer and commercial sales feedback/market observations

  • Acquire funding commitments from suppliers for participation in various sales and marketing programs (National Sales Meeting, District Meetings, and the Strategic Supplier Program)

  • Advocate for the product/s, internally and externally, effectively communicating the value proposition and clinical/operational/financial benefits of the product/s

  • Implement marketing programs intended to drive profitable revenue growth, achieve AOP objectives and contribute to EBITA

  • Conduct key supplier business reviews on regular cadence and cultivate lasting business relationships

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or business required with MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, strategic sourcing, or equivalent

  • Consistent track record of success in launching new products

  • Knowledge of market trends, new technologies, and industry standard processes in product management

  • Strong business and financial acuity with deep understanding of group purchasing organizations and how they affect clinical decision-making

  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory products and applications, actual working laboratory experience or comprehension of customer requirements in laboratory products preferred

  • Self-starter with the ability to implement plans with minimal direction

  • Confidence to independently negotiate and maintain relationships with executive level supplier partners

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies, offering sound recommendations (based on both quantitative and qualitative inputs) with insight on financial drivers

  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi-task, to balance immediate priorities with timelines on longer-term projects and critical initiatives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
