Title:

Principal Mechanical Engineer - Pressure Vessels

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

  • Responsible for design, specification, selection and services relating to pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks.

  • Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

    Job Qualifications

  • Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Has worked at least 7 years with pressure vessels for engineering company or pressure vessel shop.

  • Has worked with exchangers/ pressure vessels in the shop or field (a plus)

  • Has visited shop to inspect equipment (a plus)

  • Has requisitioned pressure vessels

  • Has performed bid reviews for pressure vessels

  • Has reviewed supplier drawings

  • Technical Skills acquired with experience includes some of the following:

  • Has a working knowledge of ASME pressure vessel code.

  • Has worked with the API storage tank code.

  • Has used software to design pressure vessels such as PVElite or Compress

  • Mechanical detailing of pressure vessels

  • Has been the lead pressure vessel engineer for a small project.

  • Understands the basics required to lead a project including

  • Schedule

  • Progress Measurement
