Eaton Corporation Principal Architect - Data Governance in Houston, Texas

Eaton Corporate is hiring a Principal Architect - Data Governance. No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of the following Eaton locations to be considered; Beachwood OH, Galesburg MI, Raleigh NC, Moon Township, Houston TX, Menomonee Falls WI. 10% travel is required for this position.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Governance, the Principal Architect of Data Governance at Eaton plays a critical role in shaping and implementing our enterprise-wide data governance strategy. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders across Cybersecurity, IT audit, AI Governance, Legal, and Enterprise Architecture, they will ensure that our data assets are managed effectively, securely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The individual acts as the technical compass for data governance initiatives. They align technologists within IT, Eaton sectors and functional organizations across a unified vision, ensuring that data becomes a strategic asset rather than a liability. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, this architect aligns data initiatives with business goals, driving innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.

What you’ll do:

• Data governance policies must include a clear reference architecture for our business processes, systems, and critical data flows. It’s about orchestrating complexity. At the scale of Eaton’s vast volumes of data from diverse sources and sectors, without proper governance, chaos ensues. The architect brings order by designing robust frameworks, standards, and processes. They simplify the intricate web of data relationships, making it accessible and actionable.

• Data breaches, privacy violations, and regulatory fines are real threats. This role will act as the organization’s guardian of compliance. They establish controls, partner, define and implement mature access management, and ensure adherence to legal requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). Their work shields the organization from reputational damage and financial losses.

• The architect champions data quality. Clean, accurate data fuels informed decision-making. By defining validation rules, data lineage, and stewardship processes, they build trust in the data ecosystem. Trustworthy data drives better business outcomes.

• Data maturity is a strategic imperative here at Eaton. Mature organizations leverage data for predictive analytics, AI, and innovation. The Senior Data Governance Architect elevates the organization’s maturity by fostering a data-aware culture, breaking silos, and promoting collaboration. Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited

• Minimum 7 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data architecture, and/or data analytics.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution

• Certifications in data governance, data quality or master data management.

• 10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, data architecture, and/or data analytics.

• Experience leading global organizations through technology assessments, governance policy and the designing reference architecture across the full lifecycle of data.

• Experience in working with data-related regulations and compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA

• Strong understanding of data architecture, databases, and storage solutions.

• Expertise in data modeling, data retention and archival, data observability, quality, and cataloging.

• Strong understanding of data strategy frameworks, data maturity, and industry standard approaches.

• Knowledge of cutting-edge data technologies across access management, security, compliance, privacy, and AI.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
