Robert Half Network Engineer in Houston, Texas

Description

We are in the process of recruiting a Network Engineer for our client located in Houston, Texas. This role involves working in a hybrid setting, with a balance of onsite and remote work. This is a contract role, offering a unique opportunity to join our team and contribute to our company's success.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Fortinet network experience and know-how to address network issues and improve overall performance.

• Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve any network problems that arise.

• Use FortiManager configuration tool to optimize and manage network configurations.

• Assist in the deployment of Fortinet across all locations, including the removal of old network switches.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth and efficient network operations.

• Leverage skills with network switches and router switches to enhance network efficiency and reliability.

• Occasionally travel as required for the role, adhering to company policy and safety guidelines.

• Contribute to team efforts and organizational projects as needed.

• Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

• Ensure all work complies with company policies and standards, as well as legal regulations.

Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in configuring and maintaining Fortinet Firewalls and FortiManager

• Solid understanding of network switches and router switches

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer in the Credit Agencies - Business industry

• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network issues

• Strong knowledge of network protocols, subnetting, and DNS

• Capability to plan and implement system security, including building firewalls, managing host security, and applying security patches

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Relevant certifications in network engineering will be advantageous

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
