GIS Analyst IIPerforms complex geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.GIS Analyst IIIPerforms advanced geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.GIS Analyst IVPerforms advanced geographic information systems (GIS) data development, integration and analysis, produces maps and graphics, and extracts, analyzes and reports data. Provides technical assistance and support of transportation related activities or projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies. Serves as a Lead Worker or Project Leader. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:GIS Analyst IIUtilizes ArcGIS Online to create and maintain feature services and web mapping applications.Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.Collects global positioning system (GPS) data and converts GPS data into GIS datasets.Collects, prepares, digitizes and codes spatial data into GIS format.Converts GPS data into GIS datasets.Creates and maintains cartographic products using ArcGIS.Creates, maintains and updates GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite of ArcGIS software.Follows documented workflows, standard operating procedures and best practices to consistently produce high-quality data with minimal errors or corrections.Creates and updates documentation including standard operating procedures, project plans, wiki pages, metadata, etc.Provides support, coordination and advice in the development, implementation and maintenance of projects and programs.GIS Analyst IIIIncludes all essential duties listed for GIS Analyst II as well as:May serve as a lead worker or project leader.Conducts mapping research to ensure accurate use of data and resolve conflicting information.Develops and coordinates training curriculums and trains technical staff.Research new software and techniques for improving performance or processes.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.GIS Analyst IVIncludes all essential duties listed for GIS Analyst II and III as well as:Plans and proposes projects to management; creates project plans.Responsible for the development technical training curriculums and trains technical staff.Oversees or manages the identification, gathering and compilation of required geographic and tabular data from various public and private sources.Oversees or manages the entry and validation of data into the enterprise database management system.Oversees or manages the creation and production of cartographic map products, web mapping applications, and ArcGIS Online maps and services.Creates or oversees the creation of documentation, including standard operating procedures, project plans, wiki pages, metadata, etc.Assists manager with hiring and performance evaluation process.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
