Position Summary:
Operates ultrasound equipment and performs a variety of technical procedures to produce images for patient diagnosis.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Operates ultrasound equipment and records results. Adjusts parameters on equipment, and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.
- Assists with research activities.
- Performs basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions.
- May participate in diagnosis process to access maternal and fetal well-being.
- Assists with research activities by collecting data and participating in research projects.
- Demonstrates the use of ultrasound equipment and techniques to assist with the education of students, nurses, residents, patients, and physicians.
- Attend continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances in ultrasound and antenatal testing.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.
- Associate Degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- Two years experience in diagnostic ultrasound.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
