Phillips 66 Inside Sales Consultant in Houston, Texas

The Inside Sales Consultant position is responsible for managing a portfolio of Finished Lubricants customers. This Houston-based role will be responsible for preparing and executing customer meetings (via phone, email, and other technologies), pricing these customers, managing their programs, if applicable, and meeting volume and gross margin targets for their territory. Each territory will be aligned with the goals for the overall region and each Consultant will be responsible for ensuring they are supporting these goals. This position provides foundational experience in many aspects of the Lubricants value chain and serves as a great development opportunity for other progression sales and marketing positions across Lubricants, Marketing, & Specialties.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Utilize Sales Enablement tools to meet business plan goals (volume and gross margin) for assigned territory

  • Utilize virtual selling support technologies to execute sales calls (i.e., phone, electronic mail, and other technologies)

  • Manage sales by providing support and building relationships with existing customers

  • Assist with identifying business development growth opportunities with existing customers

  • Manage and resolve customer concerns and issues

  • Execute current and long-term Finished Lubricants’ strategies

  • Work with internal and external resources to maximize customer experience and increase sales

  • Collaborate with Regional and Direct sales teams to ensure alignment as appropriate

  • Interface with internal departments creating strong working relationships and efficiencies

  • Forecast annual territory demand

  • Devise and implement Finished Lubricants pricing strategies for customers aligned with overall region strategies

  • Become a power user of Salesforce.com and utilize all the tools within to help manage customers

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%

  • Proficient in virtual communications, both verbally and in writing, with customers and multiple levels of management

  • Proficient with PC applications, MS Office applications, and data management; able to gather and interpret data from separate systems

  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks / issues simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience demonstrating ability to analyze data and draw conclusions

  • 2 or more years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, Lubricants, Marketing, Transportation, and/or Commercial operations

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and direction

  • Strong competitive drive with ability to overcome and work around rejection

  • Experience with conflict resolution and leading internal/external resources to achieve goals

  • Negotiation skills, sound business judgment, and complex problem-solving capabilities
