Description We are offering an opportunity for an Accountant I in the finance industry, specifically in the Payroll Garnishment Department. The position is located in Houston, Texas, and offers a long term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Handle the processing of payments for wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other court-mandated deductions.

• Maintain comprehensive and precise records of garnishment orders, payments, and correspondence.

• Answer garnishment-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a clear and detail oriented manner.

• Conduct research and re-issue returned checks as required.

• Solve unreconciled balance sheet transactions.

• Aid in special tasks or projects as assigned by the senior team members.

• Uphold detailed records and resolve any discrepancies to ensure smooth operations related to employee garnishments.

• Provide support to the payroll team, ensuring that all operations run smoothly.

• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.

• Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently. Requirements • Possess strong communication skills for effective correspondence with stakeholders.

• Proficient in office functions and Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Microsoft Excel.

• Demonstrable experience in operations and payroll functions.

• Capable of efficiently processing payments, including wages, deductions, and garnishments.

• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies, handle returned checks, and manage tax levies.

• Solid understanding of finance and accounting functions, including balance sheet account management.

• Proven ability to lead special projects and perform QA management tasks.

• Aptitude for handling complex calculations, such as deductible calculations.

• A Plus certification is beneficial, but not mandatory.

• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
