Terracon’s Houston office is seeking an Environmental Field Scientist to join our team. This position will have a primary focus of conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM E 1527-21. Primary tasks include gathering and evaluating regulatory and historical data, performing site evaluations, conducting file reviews, and preparing reports detailing findings.

The ideal candidate for this position will be flexible to changing project types/needs, available to travel for field investigations, and able to adapt to working on different project teams depending on project needs. Completion of some projects may require working outside of standard office hours and days. This position would be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads on a variety of projects.

We are looking for a flexible, quick-learning, and professional individual with an eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a desire to be part of a high-performing team in one of Terracon’s Hub offices. The successful candidate must be task oriented, able to commit to assigned deadlines, possess a teamwork and a growth-oriented mindset, and strive towards continued self-development through increased technical and industry related knowledge and skill.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related science field.

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience

  • Excellent professional communication abilities and technical writing skills.

  • Proficient skills, knowledge, and experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and produce quality deliverables on schedule

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.

  • Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

  • Entry level scientific professional responsible for gathering data and information to be evaluated by other team members.

  • Tabulate and prepare data for written reports.

  • May assist with report preparation by summarizing data and information within reports
