We have an exciting opportunity for a DOD SkillBridge Program Intern - Spacecraft Software Engineer to join our team with the Engineering Division.

Do you want to work onsite at NASA in Houston with a dynamic team to build out the next generation spacecraft integration and test facility? If so, this opportunity may be for you. Our company has teamed up with the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program to provide career opportunities in:

DOD SkillBridge Program Intern - Spacecraft Software Engineer : Collaborate with the Commercial Software development teams d evelop an intimate knowledge of the system design Learn and perform the following tasks

  • NASA Software Requirements Specification

  • Review commercial Software Development process and documentation

  • Finding issues and risks, raising questions, and tracking

  • Ensure commercial software development teams are following their process

  • Identify where process does not align to the NASA standards and how to document

  • System integration and interface management and coordination

  • Coordinate software testing and verification

  • Review software products and artifacts for completeness of design and implementation

  • Software Process Assessment (including Compliance assessment) across the full development life cycle

  • Complete hazard analysis reviews

NOTE: SkillBridge interns will not be eligible for any compensation during their internship, as they will continue to receive all military pay and benefits. Upon successful completion of this internship, you will be well prepared and encouraged to apply for open positions listed on our careers page.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • To have served at least 180 days in any of the U.S. Armed Forces

  • To be within 180 days of separation or retirement from any of the U.S. Armed Forces (you may start your application prior to the 180 days)

  • Must be on track to receive an Honorable Discharge

  • Must have taken any service TAPS/TGPS

  • Must have attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

  • Must have command approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with software testing and verification

  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding in a Linux environment

  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python

  • Experience with agile software development

  • Experience with web-based collaboration tools

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, git, slack, SharePoint

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude

  • Self-starter who can understand and absorb new concepts quickly

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
