Position Description:

Job Purpose and Scope:

Responsible for supporting lending efforts with varying degree of complexity and attention to detail by leading the analysis, underwriting, origination, monitoring and servicing of loans across the Corporate & Institutional Banking (“CIB”) division. Reviews credit memorandums and ensures all due diligence is complete and accurate and in compliance with the policies and procedures of the CIB - portfolio management, underwriting, and operations. Supervises and serves as mentor/coach for CIB underwriting team members. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining credit relationships within CIB division.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures thorough, accurate, and timely servicing of the loan portfolio in compliance with Bank’s Loan Policy.

  • Oversees and directs various portfolio managers or associates within the division regarding potential exposure, operational risks, or servicing issues.

  • Oversees the underwriting team’s workflow and designates assignments ensuring loan requests are processed in a timely manner.

  • Manages the daily pipeline of new business, renewals, and matured loans by tracking, monitoring, and reporting activity on a regular pipeline report.

  • Oversees risk within the loan portfolio to ensure potential challenges are identified well in advance and communicated to borrowers and upper management so that timely resolutions result in mitigation of Bank’s risk.

  • Ensures underwriting is thorough, accurate, and incorporates detailed risk analysis mitigation that aligns with the Bank’s credit risk appetite.

  • Provides financial analysis, analytical, and underwriting support to business lines within the division.

  • Reports on the comparison of the business forecast to the Loan Portfolio.

  • Oversees underwriting of CIB Credit Analysts and provides feedback and mentorship as necessary.

  • Manages, drafts, and implements operational policies and procedures.

  • Collaborates on related underwriting guidelines and expectations, develops required loan presentation content and standardized approaches, and recommends updates, as appropriate.

  • Collaborates across business lines and communicates pertinent information/changes to upper management.

  • Recommends updates to relevant sections of Loan Policy.

  • Provides advice and expertise on trouble credits as to best course of action.

  • Manages, leads, and mentors team of staff within department.

  • Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

  • Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.

  • Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Knowledge of federal and state lending and compliance regulations.

Position Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or job-related field, required.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in Commercial and/or Corporate Banking, required.

  • Successful completion of a formal credit training program, preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous management experience, preferred.
