POSITION SUMMARY:

In alignment with The Center for Pursuits mission to promote choice, growth, and independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Director of Finance will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This role is pivotal in overseeing all accounting functions and financial reporting for the organization.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing the accounting team, handling accounts receivable and payable, ensuring compliance, administering grants, performing bank reconciliations, and managing treasury functions. The Director of Finance will also coordinate the annual financial and benefit audit processes, working closely with external auditors and internal teams to ensure a smooth and successful audit cycle.

Additionally, this position is responsible for directing all fiscal operations for The Center for Pursuit, Pursuit Foundation, CRI Federal Services, and CRI Commercial Services, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities around treasury accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant administration and reporting, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting and develop metrics to report on these activities against benchmarks.
  • Lead and establish departmental strategies and goals that align with the agencys strategic direction
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls across all departments.
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial statements for department leaders, Board of Directors, President and CEO.
  • Develop annual budget, provide financial analysis, and utilize cash forecasting tools to evaluate organizations service lines, new initiatives, potential projects, and other programs or opportunities.
  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Lead the accounting team to regularly prepare relevant management reports, including semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for each area of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Financial Management, performance management, communication proficiency, independent judgment, ethical conduct, interpersonal skills, time-management, organization, leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems dedicated to nonprofits.
  • An understanding of Office of Management and Budget requirements as well as Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs is critical due to federal funding.
  • Solid leader with track record of building and managing high functioning teams.

Workweek Details:

Monday through Friday.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
  • 15-20 years Accounting and Finance experience.
  • 5+ years non-profit experience preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of Board reporting and engagement preferred.
  • TX HHSC experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience streamlining process and implementing new systems.
  • Experience dealing with external auditors.
  • Experience with benefit accounting and audits preferred.
