Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Analytic & Systems Support Estimator for the Energy team, based in Houston. The purpose of this role is to support cost estimating, analysis, and control activities as directed for projects or proposals. Coordinates task execution with other estimating personnel. Assists in data analysis and maintenance of historical databases and in preparation of graphic presentations by summarizing estimating data. Executes tasks within well-defined parameters. #LI-CS1

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities:

As a Data Analytic & Systems Support Estimator, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Collection, reconciliation and verification of data

  • Development and maintenance of data repository for historical information

  • Develop comparisons between historical and estimated information

  • Sound knowledge of PowerBI data analytics software for the purposes of maintaining and analyzing historical databases

  • Power BI visualizations development

  • Conducting pricing analysis as needed to support estimating decisions

  • Performs data entry and extraction using global business unit-specific estimating databases and software

  • Supports cost analysis by working with discipline estimators to collect, develop, classify, and verify data

  • Able to analyze, create, slice and dice data for ad-hoc reports and presentation

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or business.

  • One to five years of experience (or equivalent education) in data analytics and database development

  • Legal authorization to work and live in the USA

  • Demonstrates inclusive collaboration and teamwork. Values diverse perspectives from teammates.

  • Ability to support and take guidance from project estimators or estimating managers for the development of analytics and databases.

  • Ability to ensure estimate quality and integrity, including quality data checks.

  • A track record of collaborating with team members to achieve required outcomes and goals as applicable.

  • Comfortable in all manners of communication, including technical writing.

  • Ability to collect, reconcile, and verify data for summary comparisons.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction functions customarily acquired through experience in the EPC industry.

  • Experience using standard software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and PowerBI to analyze estimating and project performance data.

  • Travel as necessary

  • Be able to support estimate development with a hybrid work option between office and home as required.

  • Master's degree in in engineering, construction, or business.

  • Experience in developing estimating databases and analytics

  • Previous experience with Bechtel proprietary estimating software (BETk)

  • Specific bulk commodity estimating such as piping or electrical/instrumentation or prior experiences with bulk scope such as designing or installation in the field.

  • Experience supporting preparing EPC estimates for projects for worldwide locations.

  • Experience with emerging energy transition projects
