Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role is critical in managing the financial health of our organization within the industry. The Controller will manage various accounting tasks, including intercompany accounting, cost accounting, and preparation of financial statements. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and their application in a manufacturing context.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the execution of consolidations and intercompany accounting tasks to ensure financial integrity.
• Manage cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation, overhead allocations, and analysis of cost of goods sold.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors as required, providing necessary information and facilitating audits.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights and projections.
• Understand and continually improve the accounting system to facilitate process efficiencies.
• Support and advise on the financial implications of business decisions, providing strategic advice based on financial data.
• Utilize various software systems including 3M, ADP - Financial Services, CRM, Crystal Reports for efficient accounting functions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely transactions.
• Conduct regular auditing processes to ensure financial compliance and accuracy.
• Oversee budget processes, ensuring financial plans align with organizational goals.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting in daily tasks and strategic decision making.
• Coordinate intercompany accounting activities to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
• Manage accounting consolidations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
• Proficiency in 3M and other accounting systems
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services
• Experience with CRM and Crystal Reports
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Accounting Functions
• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Expertise in auditing and budget processes
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Cost Accounting and Intercompany Accounting
• Previous experience in managing consolidations
• Must have the ability to work independently and make decisions based on best practices and company policies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required, advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) is a plus.
